Homeless No More hosts back-to-school bash for children
at Family Shelter and St. Lawrence Place.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Aug. 4, 2026) — Homeless No More (HNM) will host a back-to-school bash at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Southeastern Freight Lines Education Center for the children in its primary programs, Family Shelter and St. Lawrence Place.
The HNM back-to-school bash is an annual event that ensures homeless and at-risk children are prepared for a successful school year. Families from Family Shelter and St. Lawrence Place are invited to collect brand new backpacks and school supplies at no cost. At the event, families can also enroll their children in HNM’s after-school program that provides educational support and social-emotional learning year-round.
This event is the result of collaboration between HNM and community partners including Grace Life Church, Jeffcoat Injury and Car Accident Lawyers, United Way of the Midlands, and Silverton Mortgage. Volunteers will provide school supplies, activities, and a meal for the families at the event.
“When a child starts the school year with everything they need, it changes how they see themselves and what they believe is possible,” said HNM President and CEO Lila Anna Sauls. “Our back-to-school bash is about giving these children a sense of excitement about the school year ahead and reminding their families that our community is behind them.”
