Let’s end it. Family homelessness is a temporary problem, not a chronic condition. Yet here in the Midlands demand for emergency shelter is 19 times greater than supply, and demand for transitional housing and affordable housing is 10 times that which is available. We can change this. We seek to eradicate family homelessness and help parents and their children achieve lasting independence. Join us.
We help families in crisis quickly access the support services they need. After assessing their circumstances, we can direct these families to rapid rehousing, services from other area nonprofits, or Family Shelter, our Emergency Shelter.
St. Lawrence Place is a 30-home community offering support services, life skills training and up to two years of transitional housing for families experiencing homelessness.
Live Oak Place provides affordable housing to at-risk families, helping them bridge the gap from transitional housing to independent living. We currently have homes across Columbia and Richland County.
We advocate on behalf of homeless families in a number of ways, representing their voices whenever important decisions are made in our community and in local/regional government conversations. We’re also working to build a full, healthy continuum of service providers via a powerful community initiative called The Roundtable.
